Madrid is the central most region (autonomous community) in Spain. It is border by the Spanish regions of Castilla y León to the northwest and Castilla/La Mancha to the southeast. It's capital is the city of Madrid which is also the nation's capital.

The region of Madrid features the rare Continental Mediterranean climate with cool winters due to altitude, including sporadic snowfalls and minimum temperatures often below 0C (32F). Summer tends to be hot with temperatures that consistently surpass 30C (86F) in August.

Due to Madrid's altitude and dry climate, nightly temperatures tend to be cooler, leading to a lower average in the summer months. Summer and winter are the driest seasons, with most rainfall occurring in the autumn and spring.
