ANDALUCIA
PROVINCES: Almeria, Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga, Sevilla
Andalucia is the southernmost region (autonomous community) of Spain. It borders the Mediterranean sea to the south, Portugal to the southwest and the Spanish regions of the Extremadura to the northwest, Castilla-La Mancha to the northeast and Murcia to the southeast. It is the most populous of the regions and second largest in terms of land area.
The name Andalucia traces back to the Arabic language Al-Andalus and Andalucia was the center of power in medieval Muslim-dominated Iberia. Besides Moorish influences, the region has been influenced by the earlier Iberians, Carthaginians, Greeks, Roman Empire, Vandals, Visigoths—all of whom preceded the Muslims—and, of course, the Castilian and other Christian North Iberian nationalities who conquered the area in the latter phases of the Reconquista. Its warm climate and natural beauty make it a popular destination for tourists. Although inland provinces such as Jaén, Córdoba are still relatively untouched by the hands of tourism, the coastal areas of Andalucia have heavy visitor traffic for much of the year. • View Andalucia Property Sales • View Andalucia Long Term Rentals • View Andalucia Holiday Rentals |
